Seven Chakras: A Multifunctional Experience Pavilion

Qiang Shen's Design Transforms Space and Function with Zen Inspiration

Qiang Shen's "Seven Chakras" is a multifunctional experience pavilion that revolutionizes the concept of space and function. Inspired by the seven chakras of the human body and the ancient Chinese ideologist Zhuangzi, this design offers a unique blend of art, architecture, and technology.

The Seven Chakras design stands out due to its unique property of spatial versatility. The space can be transformed to accommodate various functions, from lectures and meditation sessions to art exhibitions. The area of the space can be adjusted freely according to the actual function, demonstrating a remarkable blend of practicality and aesthetics.

Constructed from walnut, glass, carpet, cement, and steel, the Seven Chakras pavilion spans 8640 square feet. The design process involved meticulous planning and execution, with a focus on achieving the perfect balance between form and function. The design team, led by Shen Qiang and Feng Cheng cheng, worked tirelessly to bring this innovative concept to life.

The Seven Chakras pavilion is not just a static structure; it is designed for interaction. A large wooden box within the space can be controlled via an iPad, allowing for movement and transformation of the space. This feature presents a unique blend of traditional design elements with modern technology, offering a unique and engaging user experience.

The project, which started in August 2013 in Shen Zhen, China, was completed in November 2013. The design process involved extensive research and experimentation. The designers created a special bookshelf with two different specifications that could be freely combined according to the space, ensuring harmony between the books and the bookshelves. The design also incorporated environmental considerations, with the inclusion of a recycling box.

One of the main challenges in the design process was the integration of the large box controlled by an iPad. This box could fuse with different parts of the space, transforming into a secret entrance, a stage, a concert room, and more. This innovative feature adds a dynamic element to the space, allowing for a multitude of potential uses.

The Seven Chakras design has received recognition for its innovative approach to space and function, winning the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2014. This award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
